Eccleshill U 19 v Wakefield U 19
Wakefield Under 19's put in a determined display at league leaders
Eccleshill, but were beaten by a single goal in seven.
Eccleshill were an older,
more experienced side, with many of their players regularly playing first
team football in the Northern Counties East League. Eccleshill raced into
a
two goal lead early in the game, but Ryan Bent's header reduced the
arrears before half time.
The home side were again quick out of the blocks in the second half,
scoring twice more to take the score to 4-1, before Wakefield began to
fight back. The Bears showed
good character and determination as they scored twice more themselves to
take the score to 4-3, the second goal for Wakefield a wonder strike from
Elliot Firth.
Despite their dominance of the game during the last twenty minutes,
Wakefield could not find an equaliser.
Result: Eccleshill U 19 4 - 3 Wakefield U 19

Wakefield U19 v
Bradford
PA U 19
A totally dominant Wakefield U19's team turned
the league table upside down at a sodden College Grove last night
In a wholesale change that
saw the entire U18's team drafted in to play against an unbeaten Bradford
side, the Bears dominated from start to finish. The mouth watering, slick
passing at a searing pace by the home side was a joy to watch for any
football fan. Wakefield took control early on and maintained the standard
for 90 minutes against a stunned Bradford.
Danny South had an excellent early goal ruled out following fine build up
play down the right. Shot after shot rained in on the Bradford goal,
Bradfords goalkeeper pulling off some brilliant saves. It took until the
stroke of half time for the Bears to take the lead through Glavin who's
well timed run into the box saw him finish a great move started by Morris
to bury the ball into the bottom corner following Firth's pull back from
the byline.
The second half continued in the same vain, with Bradford limited to time
in Wakefields half. Matty Wears added a second with a brilliant shot into
the opposite top corner after cutting in from the touchline. The excellent
Danville brilliantly anticipated Glavin's well weighted free kick to head
past the keeper for the third. Josh Burgin then got in on the act, cutting
inside his man on the edge of a busy Bradford box and placing a shot with
his 'weaker' foot into the far bottom corner of the net.
A thoroughly disciplined, relentless, fantastic team performance. The
management are considering increasing the entrance fee to match value for
money!

Wakefield U 19 4 - 0 Bradford PA U 19

Wakefield U 19 v
Field U
19
Wakefield Under 19's remain at the bottom of
the division after being beaten by Field in their latest league outing.
After a fairly even first
half, Wakefield fell behind to an early second half goal from the
visitors.
Their more experienced opponents then did an excellent job to marshall the
quick Wakefield forwards, with the midfield effectively dropping back for
Field to see out the game at 1-0, with the Bears unable to register a shot
on target after the goal had gone in.
Thursday's game against Silsden has been postponed as Silsden are unable
to raise a team on the day.
