THE SQUAD 2005/06

 

The Manager:

PaulDavid.jpg (6282 bytes) Paul David (DOB 28.11.65) 

(
Joint 1st team manager and Central Defender): PD has been at Emley since 1992 when he was signed from Bradley Rangers. Paul has been player of the
year and despite not being a striker was leading scorer in the 1998/99 season.
Scored Emley's goal against West Ham in the 'glorious' FA Cup run.
Appointed
coach during summer of 2003 and elevated to joint manager when Ian Banks resigned

Phil Sharpe

Phil joined Emley as assistant to Paul David in September 2004, after leaving as manager of Frickley Athletic earlier that month. An expericened player he
started at Doncaster Rovers before having spells at Halifax Town, Farsley Celtic
& abroad at Eendracht Wervik (Germany) & Union de Centre (Belguim).
Returned to play for Gateshead, Ashton Utd, Bradford P.A, Garforth  &
Guiseley. Appointed Frickley player manager in July 2002. Won Sheffield & Hallamshire Cup in season 2003-04.

Joined the club early in the 2004/05 season when assistant manager Ray Dennis resigned

Robert Tonks  (Midfield and full back) 

He was signed from local football and made his debut In October 1995. A valuable member of the squad who has played everywhere for Emley
while
always liable to score a vital goal.
Seems to have found his niche at either full
back position. Over 350 games for The Club.

 

Danny Trueman (Goalkeeper)

Initially signed as cover for Paul Cuss from Ashton United in March 2005. Danny has now taken over between the sticks following Cuss's move to Farsley
Celtic. He began his career at Southampton and has also been on the books of
Huddersfield Town

 

Lenny Curtis (Centre Back)

Joined in November 2004 from Harrogate Town. Started his career at Leeds United before moving onto Rotherham. Returned to his native Ireland for a spell with Shamrock Rovers and then returned to England where he has been on the books of Matlock, Stalybridge, Boston United, Gainsborough, Hednesford and Kettering. Gained two Republic Of Ireland Under 21 caps.

 

Adam Muller (Striker)

Former Sheffield Wednesday trainee. ‘Gerd’ spent 4 years at Worksop Town
before finally joining Emley in July 2004 after having 2 separate loan spells in 2003/04 season. Plays upfront or wide on the right. Scored goal of the season 
for Emley, away at Hucknall Town during 2003/04 season

Currently on loan to Ilkeston Town (from Jan 1st 2006)

 

Scott Clarke (striker)

(Striker/ winger) 18 year Old who stepped out of the Under 19’s in April 2003 to
make his 1st Team debut. Was part of the Squad all last season - winning the
Most Improved Player Award for season 2003/04
Used primarily as a winger but prefers a Centre Forward role. Former Barnsley junior.

Missed the whole of 2004/05 season through injury and still not played in the 2005/06 season
Steve Kenworthy (Striker) 

Joined Emley In November 2003 from Huddersfield Town. ‘Kenny’ was the top
scorer for the club last season with 13 Goals. A lively and strong Centre
Forward he swept the board 2003/04 awards night, winning Sponsors,
Players & Fans Player Of The Season Awards. Will be hoping to improve on last years goal tally.

 

Christian Fox

Skilful Midfielder who joined Emley from Harrogate Town in August 2004. moved to Harrogate Town in the summer of 2004 from York City. Played 70
League games for York. Was interesting higher level teams until being hit by
injuries.Also had a loan spell with Irish team Larne while at York.
Richard Kettlewell (Young Midfielder.)

Young lad who has progressed well through the Under 19 & Reserve Sides to join 1st Team Squad. A tireless & hard tackling player. He can play in the
centre of midfield or wide on either flank. Will be looking to grasp his chance &
stay in the side.
Marc Thompson (midfielder or defender)

Marc signed for Emley in October 2004. Started his career at York City for whom he made 27 league appearances. After that he spent a season with
Farnborough Town. Returned to Yorkshire and joined Bradford Park Avenue in
August 2004 before moving on To Emley

Paul Staniforth (Full back)

Began his career as a junior at Maltby Main. He worked his way up into the first team with the NCEL side and was signed in October 2004. Has also
represented Yorkshire at Under 18 level
