Reserves Run Out Winners at Farsley

A late goal from Dominic Noteman earned Wakefield FC Reserves a 1-0 win at Farsley Celtic.

The Reserves had to play 40 minutes with 10 men due to travel problems causing the late arrival of players at the ground, but fought magnificently to run out winners at the end of the game.

FLYNN BRACE EARNS RESERVES WIN AT BRADFORD

Ashley Flynn scored twice as Wakefield reserves won 3-2 at Bradford Park Avenue on Monday night.

Wakefield travelled to third placed Bradford Park Avenue on a very windy and cold evening.

Bradford opened the scoring after 20 minutes, but Wakefield were back level a minute later when Ashley Flynn scored an excellent individual goal.

Wakefield were playing against a strong wind in difficult conditions throughout the first half, but were well organised and disciplined.

Flynn converted a free kick from 20 yards five minutes into the second half to put Wakefield in front.

Bradford pushed hard for an equaliser in an entertaining half, but it was Wakefield who equalised with a spectacular goal. A Bradford clearance fell to Shaun Squires who volleyed in from 45 yards, a goal reminiscant of Arie Hahn in the 1978 world cup.

Bradford made multiple changes and got back into the game just before the whistle with a drilled effort at the far post.

But Wakefield held out well to come away with a well earned three points against a strong Bradford side.

SUPER RESERVES WIN AT HEMSWORTH

A Wakefield reserve side, which included several U19 and U18 players, ran out 2-0 winners in a friendly at Northern Counties East side Hemsworth.

Wakefield were in front on 12 minutes when Mark Roberts sent a bullet header into the net after rising majestically above the goalkeeper and defenders.

The second goal was scored with 20 minutes remaining when Matthew Wears sent a low drive into the net from 12 yards.

By the end of the game, over half the Wakefield side were 16 years of age, making the performance even more impressive against Hewsworth, who were fielding players from their first team squad.
